Privacy Policy — Wink Launcher
Effective: April 2026. This Privacy Policy explains how Wink Launcher ("we", "us", "the App") collects, uses, and protects information on devices where the Launcher is installed. The App is in active development and some features or infrastructure may change in the future; we will update this policy when they do.
Summary
- Wink Launcher reads the list of apps installed on your device to provide launcher features and app tiles.
- We only read notifications if you explicitly opt in; notifications are used to populate tiles when you allow it.
- We may ask you to set Wink Launcher as the default launcher; this only happens if you opt in and confirm the action.
- We do not collect location data in the background. To provide weather information you must manually enter your city, town, or village.
- We do not collect, sell, or distribute personal or usage data to third parties.
- As of April 2026 the App does not use a remote database for any of its services. This may change in the future; if we introduce remote storage we will update this policy and disclose what is stored and why.
- The App is ad-free and free to use as of April 2026; this may change in the future.
What We Access and Why
Installed Apps
To populate your home screen and provide app shortcuts and tiles, Wink Launcher reads the list of installed applications on your device. This list is processed locally on your device and is not uploaded or shared unless you explicitly choose a feature that requires remote sync (which does not exist as of April 2026).
Notifications (Opt-in)
If you opt in, Wink Launcher can read incoming notifications so it can surface relevant information on tiles or the launcher UI. Notification access is optional and can be revoked at any time in your device settings. We only read notifications to show them in the launcher; we do not forward them off your device.
Default Launcher Setting (Opt-in)
We may prompt you to set Wink Launcher as your device's default launcher. This action is performed only after you explicitly confirm it via the system consent dialog. We do not change this setting without your consent.
Location & Weather
Wink Launcher does not collect location data in the background. To show weather information, you must manually enter your city, town, or village. That location entry is stored on-device unless you choose to share it with an external service.
Data Collection, Storage & Sharing
We take a minimal approach to data:
- No collection: We do not automatically collect usage analytics, telemetry, or personal data.
- No sale or distribution: We do not sell, rent, or otherwise distribute your personal information or usage data to third parties.
- Local storage: All features operate locally on your device. As of April 2026 we do not use a remote database or cloud backend for the App's services.
User Controls & Rights
You control what the App can access:
- Notification access: Enable or disable in system settings; revoking access stops the App from reading incoming notifications.
- Default launcher: You can change or revoke the default launcher setting through your device settings at any time.
- Location for weather: Remove or edit your manually entered city/town from the App settings.
If you would like us to delete any data that we may have stored locally for your account or device, please contact us (see Contact section). Because most data is stored locally, deleting the App and clearing its app data will remove stored information.
Security
We implement reasonable measures to protect data stored on your device. However, no app can guarantee absolute security; please secure your device with device-level protections (screen lock, encryption) to reduce risks.
Changes to This Policy
This policy is effective April 2026. If we introduce remote services, cloud storage, telemetry, or change how we handle data, we will update this page and post a clear summary of material changes. Continued use of the App after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
